Brush Often
Pomeranians have a thick double coat that requires regular brushing to prevent tangles and mats. Use a slicker brush and metal comb 3–4 times per week. Start gently and make brushing a relaxing bonding activity your Pom enjoys.
Bathe Monthly
Bathe your Pom once every 3 to 4 weeks using a mild dog shampoo. Always dry the coat completely using a blow dryer on low heat — damp fur can cause skin irritation and tangling.
Trim Carefully
Keep nails trimmed every 2–3 weeks to avoid discomfort and mobility issues. Clean ears regularly with a vet-approved solution. For a neater look, a professional groomer can give your Pom a “teddy cut,” which is easier to maintain and keeps them looking extra cute.
Avoid Shaving
Never shave a Pomeranian. Their double coat protects them from heat and cold — shaving can permanently damage their fur and make it grow back unevenly.
Start Young
Introduce grooming early so your puppy becomes comfortable with being handled. Praise and treat them during grooming to build positive associations that last a lifetime.
